It’s become an Australia Day tradition that we head to Byron Bay for a long weekend with our beautiful friends. The incredible beach and crystal clear water, the food, the vibe, the coffee, the surrounding nature and the gorgeous people all make this one of our favourite places to visit. There are so many amazing cafes and restaurants to try so here is a list of some of my favourites in Byron.
BAYLEAF CAFÉ
The best brekky in Byron (and possibly the world). I can’t go past the Brekky Greens with poached eggs. This is my favourite place for coffee too. For the serious coffee drinkers, try the Coconut Cold Drip.
THE FARM
This a working farm with a big open air café (Three Blue Ducks) a produce store and incredible bakery on its premises. Ingredients are organic, seasonal and mostly sourced from their own farm – you can certainly taste the difference! Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
FEDERAL DOMA CAFÉ
Federal Doma cafe is a 30 minute drive from Byron but well worth it. The quality of this fresh, organic Japanese food is what you would expect in a top notch Japanese restaurant. Sit on one of the rustic bench tables outside and enjoy the relaxed vibe for lunch.
HARVEST
This weatherboard cottage is a 20 minute drive from Byron, in the historic town of Newrybar. They use all organic, local and native ingredients in an interesting way.
We went for dinner but I would love to go back to try their brekky and coffee.
ROADHOUSE CAFÉ BAR
So many delicious options to choose from here! And quite the Byron scene. Also lots of interesting types of coffees, kombucha and cold pressed juices to try. They use the freshest and best quality naturally grown local produce so the menu changes daily. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
NAKED TREATIES
The best smoothies, juices and raw treats you will ever have!
JAPANOISE KITCHEN
The perfect quick and delicious lunch. I had the salmon teriyaki with brown rice and salad. So yummy!
RAE'S ON WATEGOS
This is a beautiful special occasion restaurant in a stunning location, overlooking Wategos beach. It is delicious fine-dining food in a very relaxed environment. I highly recommend making a night of it if you can and staying at Rae's, a luxurious boutique hotel. I had to mention this one as this is where we stayed and ate when my husband proposed. Super romantic!
There are SO many other great places in Byron, including Top Shop, The Balcony, St Elmo’s, Treehouse, Targa, the list goes on!
